Football Wives ABC's New Drama

Football Wives has been taken off the Fall schedule, it is rumored that the NFL did not approve of the programs nature and tossed around their weight to have the show shelved. Hopefully we will get some better news soon.

Football Wives on ABC is based on the British soap Footballers' Wive$, this rendition will chronicles the exciting and dangerous lives of three wealthy football players wives, Tanya, Donna and Chardonnay, all married to superstar footballer players. Updated for the US by Ugly Betty's Marco Pennette, ABC's new rendition plans to retain the trashy, high-camp drama of the original series, while adding its own unique charm and flare to the concept.

Here is a rundown of what to expect on the Pilot Episode that is scheduled to air on ABC Saturday September 1st, 2007.

Pregnant Donna Reynolds finds herself welcomed into a life of luxury when her husband is picked as a first round draft for the superstar Florida Stingrays. But she immediately struggles with her sudden wealth, the change in her husband's personality and her promiscuous younger sister, as well as the fact she's being blackmailed by the man who adopted her secret first child. Meanwhile, the rest of the football wives don't fair much better. Leader of the pack Tanya Austin worries her husband's place on the team is in jeopardy when general manager Frank Wallingford becomes interested in signing up a talented young quarterback, and Chardonnay Lane faces up against her fiercely protective mother-in-law, who will do anything to stop her son from marrying the supermodel-turned-pop star.
